Every August, students across Utah take the Acadience reading assessment at the beginning of the school year (BOY). While Kane School District currently starts the year below the state average, our dedicated faculty and staff work hard all year to ensure our students exceed the state average by the end of the year. We know that if students start the school year reading at a higher level, they will achieve even greater academic growth. This will also help us reach our district goal of having 80% of our third graders reading at or above grade level by the end of the year.
To give our students the best opportunity for success, Kane County School District has partnered with Kanab City’s summer reading program to provide student incentives. We are also opening the Kanab Elementary School library this summer every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We invite parents and guardians to read with their children this summer to ensure our students begin the school year in a position to make as much academic growth as possible in the upcoming school year.
