I want to provide a few exciting updates regarding the largest capital projects taking place in our district over the next few years:
- Kanab High School Wrestling Room: Construction is complete! The new room is located right behind the bleachers in the main gym and will be utilized this November by our students.
- Kanab High School HVAC Upgrade: The district has awarded the HVAC contract to Trane. The majority of this project is funded by a $5.7 million U.S. Department of Energy “Renew America Schools” grant. We were proud to be one of only 22 districts nationwide to receive this funding. This upgrade will replace the old coal boiler with individual rooftop units for each classroom and upgrade the climate control in the gymnasium and auditorium.
- Valley High School Office Relocation: To enhance school safety, the main office is being relocated to the front of the building. This security upgrade is made possible by a $2.7 million grant from the Utah State Board of Education and is expected to be completed by December 2026.
- Valley High School Gym & Facility Replacement: Demolition of the old Valley High School gym has officially begun. This two-year capital project will replace the old gym, music room, and weight facility, while also adding a brand-new kitchen that will serve both Valley High and Valley Elementary schools.
We are incredibly excited about the future of these facilities and the benefits they will bring to our students. If you have any questions about these updates or any other district capital projects, please feel free to stop by the district office to visit with me anytime.
