Mrs. Merilee Terry will be recognized as teacher of the year in the Kane School District
by the Utah State Board of Education on September 2nd at an honors banquet in Salt
Lake City. Mrs. Terry began her music teaching career at Ben Lomond High School in
1995. She began teaching in the Kane School District in 1998 and has created a highly
successful music department at Kanab High School. Mrs. Terry has dedicated her
career to inspiring students to love music and has taught students at Kanab Elementary,
middle, and high schools. Mrs. Terry has taught a variety of classes in the
district ranging from elementary choir to Kanab High School’s Xpress show choir. She
has also taught band, choir, orchestra, Music 1010, and even bagpipes, which she
plays each year for the high school graduation ceremony. We would like to thank Mrs.
Terry for her many years of service in the Kane School District and congratulate her on
a well-deserved teacher of the year recognition.
