On March 29, Dixie State University hosted the 44th annual Southwest Utah Regional Sterling Scholar awards sponsored by Deseret News, Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, Deseret Management Corporation, and the Southwest Educational Development Center. Students from Kanab and Valley High School where among the students participating and competing for scholarships.
The Kane District Sterling Scholars are as follows: From Kanab High School, Kambri Beckstead, Social Sciences; Kevin Luo, Mathematics; John Riordan, Agricultural Science; Sofia Zurfluh, Visual Arts; Kaden Barber, English; and Gavin Gehrig, Business & Marketing.
The student representing Valley High School is Amanda Charle Spencer, Agricultural Science.
The Kane County School Board would like to congratulate all our Sterling Scholars and will honor them at their April school board meeting, where each will be presented with a check for $100. John Riordan from Kanab High School was the winner in the Agricultural Science category and will receive an additional $1,000 scholarship from the Kane School District.
