Proposed School Fees 2020-2021
During the February 11th school board meeting the Kane County Board of Education held two public comment periods to listen to input from parents relating to the proposed school fee schedule for the upcoming school year. I would like to thank the parents and stakeholders who participated in the public comment portion of the meeting. In the 2019 General Legislative session H.B. 250 made substantial changes to district school fee requirements. In addition, the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) made changes to R277-407 Education Administration School Fees Authority and Purpose. The most substantial changes to the school fees for the 2020-2021 school is a requirement for districts to list all possible expenses for the entire school including cost for food, travel, shoes, and equipment needed for extra-curricular activities. Schools are also required to provide a spending plan for each school fee collected and indicate these expenses on the school fee schedule. As a district we will continue to make every effort to keep school fees as low as possible and do not anticipate the out of pocket costs to increase. The proposed district school fee schedules for the 2020-2021 school year can found at https://kanek12.org/. When you access the Kane School District proposed fee schedule, you can click on the specific fee to review additional information relating to each particular fee.
