On March 24th, Courtney Bills and Christine Elegante from the Utah State Board of Education traveled to the Kane County School District to present the Science of Reading Excellence in Education award to teachers in our district. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Heather Tarver, Mrs. Amanda Johnson, Mrs. Heather Heath, and our literacy specialist, Mrs. Robin Coleman, for receiving this prestigious award. The Excellence in Literacy Awards recognize the dedicated educators and leaders who are transforming student outcomes through the rigorous application of evidence-based reading research. From district architects who build sustainable literacy systems to coaches and classroom teachers who masterfully deliver explicit, systematic instruction, these recipients represent the gold standard of literacy implementation in Utah. By honoring those who bridge the gap between Science of Reading theory and daily practice, USBE celebrates the collective commitment to ensuring every student across the state develops the foundational skills necessary for lifelong success.
