Preparing for the new School Year

The Kane County School District has been very busy preparing for students to begin the 2025-26 school year.  Over the summer we work on a variety of projects such as refinishing all gym floors, improving and maintaining facilities, and most importantly, identifying areas where we can improve student safety.  As a district, student safety is our top priority, and as such, we have focused on the student pick-up and drop-off area at Valley Elementary School.  Mrs. Flanagan and the staff have worked extensively to design a plan to reduce traffic congestion and improve student safety.  To help alleviate some of these problems, the road in front of Valley Elementary is designated as a one-way street during school hours.  A new staff parking lot has been installed to allow school buses to pick up behind the school, which will allow for separation from the parent pickup and school bus loading zones. If you drive by Valley Elementary, you will notice the new staff parking and sidewalk for students to access the school building. We want to thank Orderville City for their cooperation on the project with plans to add a five-foot walking path on the east side of the school property to the corner, and to install a cross walk. We will continue to work with Orderville City and our District Safety Committee to ensure our students are safe.
