The U.S. Department of Justice recently made $73 million in grant funding available for primary and secondary schools to improve school safety. Through a competitive grant process, the Kane County School District was awarded $81,888 for school safety training for employees and first responders. The COPS Office received 1,022 applications from all 50 states. The COPS Office made 206 awards totaling $73,619,458. Also, the district will be purchasing technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement in the event of an emergency. Kane County School District will work collectively with our law enforcement and first responders to effectively implement the federal grant funding to improve school safety for our students, faculty, and staff.
