The Utah State Board of Education recently released reading proficiency data for the 2022-23 school year. Kane County School District was recognized as being in the top 10 districts in the state for students reading on grade level at the end of 3rd grade. The 3rd-grade reading proficiencies are a composite of all 3rd-grade students in the district. We were 8th out of 41 districts in 3rd-grade reading proficiencies.
Also, in 1st grade, Valley Elementary School had the largest increase in the percentage of students who achieved reading benchmarks from the beginning of the year to the end of the year in the state of Utah. Valley Elementary also had the most significant increase in the percentage of students achieving 1st-grade benchmark reading levels at the end of the year in the state. Congratulations to 1st-grade teachers Mrs. Kori Spencer and Mrs. Olivia Hartmann and their support staff!
I would like to thank all the employees who make the Kane County School District a great place to work and provide exceptional educational opportunities for our students! We have an amazing district with phenomenal leadership from our school board, who always makes decisions in the best interest of our students.
Thanks for all you do!
