Utah Schools Statewide Read-A-Thon

is gearing up to turn the page together! Students, parents, faculty, and school staff across the Beehive State are invited to participate in the Utah Statewide Read-A-Thon on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The main reading event takes place from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, inviting participants to step away from screen time, set aside daily routines, and immerse themselves in a favorite book.

Organized as part of a state initiative championed by Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox, the Read-A-Thon aims to foster a lifelong love of reading and highlight literacy’s power to strengthen minds, families, and communities.

How to Get Involved

  • Students: Pick up a storybook, novel, or textbook topic you enjoy, gather with your classmates, and discover the joy of reading.
  • Faculty & Staff: Model the habit by opening a book during designated reading times, leading classroom discussions, or setting up dedicated quiet reading spaces.
  • Parents & Families: Join the designated hour from home or work, and carry the momentum into the evening by sharing stories and discussing your favorite reads as a family.

Whether you participate in a classroom, a school library, an office, or at home, grab your favorite book and join thousands of readers across Utah in making literacy a priority! In the Kane County School District, we will be participating in the statewide Read-A-Thon. Please encourage your students to participate and be engaged in this initiative.  Thanks for your support of literacy in our district.
