Kane School District recently issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an architectural and General Contractor to help us with future capital projects. The first project will be removing the coal boiler at Kanab High School and installing new HVAC system for the entire building. Kane School District was one of twenty-two schools in the United States to be awarded a competitive grant from the United States Department of Energy. The district will receive $5.7 million for the project but we anticipate the cost of upgrade will exceed the available grant funding. The second project will be the removal of the Valley High School old gym and music room. The district has received a school safety grant to move the VHS office to the front of the building to improve security. The USBE school safety grant will provide approximately $2.6 million to help with this project. We are planning to add a new lunchroom, music room, and gym at Valley High School. Kane School District has selected Naylor Wentworth and Lund as the architects and Hughes Construction as the professional organizations contracted to help us with projects. If you have any questions about capital projects, please know you are welcome to visit with me anytime at the district office.
