Legislative Presentation

The Utah Legislative Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee invited Kanab High School to present at their meeting on “Excellence in Education.” Mr. Stewart delivered an outstanding presentation highlighting the academic achievement and student success at Kanab High School.

Key accomplishments included earning “Exemplary” status in both student achievement and growth. Out of 972 schools statewide, Kanab High School ranked 22nd. The school demonstrated impressive academic gains, including a 23% increase in English Language Arts, an 11.5% increase in science, and a 6.8% increase in end-of-level math proficiency. Kanab High School also maintains a 96% graduation rate and reported a 10.3% increase in growth among the lowest 25% of students.

Additionally, 41% of last year’s graduating class earned either an Associate Degree or General Education Certificate. The presentation also highlighted the success of the cosmetology lab and the wide range of industry-recognized certifications available to students, including culinary arts, pharmacy technician, welding, veterinary technician, automotive, sports medicine, software development, robotics, emergency medical technician, and wildland fire certifications.

Through Utah Tech University, 16 students are currently enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, and another 16 are pursuing a computer design certificate, both of which are industry-certified pathways.

We are grateful for the dedication of our faculty and staff who make these opportunities possible, and we deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our parents and community.
