The Kane County School District has received updated information from the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) regarding recent developments at the U.S. Department of Education. We have been assured that federal funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) will continue to be allocated to the state of Utah, and USBE’s Special Education Program will remain fully operational.
At this time, we anticipate that federal funding for school nutrition programs and Title I, II, and IV services will also continue to be distributed to states. However, we have not yet received formal confirmation regarding these specific funding streams. Additionally, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, no further updates have been provided.
For context, Kane County School District currently receives approximately $205,781 in federal Title funding (Title I, II, and IV) and an additional $379,914 to support food services, including free and reduced-price meals for students.
We remain in close communication with state and federal partners and will continue to monitor the situation closely. Our priority is to ensure that essential services for students and families remain uninterrupted.
