With spring sports just around the corner, we
wanted to let you know that the Utah High School Activities Association and the
Utah State Health Department plan to continue with the “test to play”
model followed for winter sports. Essentially, this means parents would
need to give their consent to allow their student-athletes to participate in
COVID-19 testing to play extra-curricular activities. The test consists
of a shallow, nasal swab, and would be conducted once over a two-week
period. Students who test positive would not be allowed to participate
and would require isolating for 10 days. Also, a student who tests
positive is not required to participate in COVID-19 testing for 90 days
after a positive test. Students who test negatively would be allowed
to participate in extra-curricular activities. There is no charge
for the COVID-19 test. Also, as a district, we have
the ability to provide COVID-19 tests to students, faculty, and
staff. If you have questions about the “test to play” program,
please contact your building administrator. If you have questions about
COVID-19 testing, please contact the Kane District Office.
