On November 8, 2020, Governor Herbert declared a new State of Emergency to address, which became effective November 9 through November 23, 2020. This declaration addresses hospital overcrowding. The new Health Order mandates a statewide requirement to wear masks, limit social gatherings, and test young populations to attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus. Schools in the Kane School District will remain open for face to face and online instruction at this time. Also, the Utah High School Activities Association has released the following statements, “For the purpose of winter sports, all winter sport activities and practices will be suspended until at least November 23. This includes tryouts for boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, boys’ wrestling and girls’ wrestling.” To comply with the limiting social gathering requirements, school facilities such as gyms and fields will be closed until November 23rd.
Additionally, we usually have large social gatherings for Veterans Day programs in our schools on November 11. To comply with limiting social gatherings, we will provide digital prerecorded Veterans Day assemblies to our students in the district. We have a great respect and appreciation for all of our Veterans and would like have our traditional celebrations to honor them and demonstrate patriotism in our schools. We apologize for the inability to gather for this very important day but want to reassure you, we’ll teach the importance of veterans in our schools on November 11.
