Back to School Information

As we continue to prepare for the first day of school on August 19, 2020, I would like to let parents and students know that we are planning to hold school on our traditional five day per week schedule with the normal start and end times observed in prior school years.  We do not plan to participate in a delayed start or shortened school day.  As a district we have implemented additional safety precautions and sanitizing schedules for multiple areas in our schools.  One of the state safety requirements will be to have all students, faculty and staff wear face coverings on the school bus, and while at school as outlined in Governor Herbert’s and the Utah Health Department’s executive orders.  Please know that the face-covering mandate will be enforced in the schools.  Students may remove face coverings when they are outside of the building and while practicing social distancing such as elementary recess, and physical education classes as outlined (p.26) in the Utah Phased Health Guidelines 4.9.  We will encourage teachers to allow students to have multiple breaks outside during the day. Additionally, the Kane School District’s reopening plan and additional information COVID-19 resources can be found at the following link: https://kanek12.org/2020/03/13/ksd-announces-soft-closure-of-all-schools/  Also, please take some time to complete the parent survey emailed from your building administrator identify if you would prefer face-to-face, blended, or online instruction for your student. If you selected blended or online instruction options, building administrators will be in contact with you to discuss the next step in completing your request.  If you did not receive the online survey and would like to request a blended or online learning option for your student, please contact the building administrator. We are looking forward to welcoming students back into the schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
