New Science Standard

On June 6, 2019, the Utah State Board of Education approved new updated Science standards for K-5 and 9-12th-grades. The new standards correlate to the Science with Engineering Education (SEEd) and mark the first changes in curriculum since 2002 for biology, chemistry and physics. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson said, “These updates include more emphasis on principles of engineering, will help keep our students on the cutting edge by engaging in applications to real world problem solving.” The new science standards are progressive, with a vertical alignment through the education system with grade-appropriate terms. Teachers will receive training on the new standards during the 2019-2020 school. The new standards will be implemented in the 2020-2021
school year. If you would like to access more information on the new science standards, you can do so at the following link: https://www.schools.utah.gov/curr/science
