The state of Utah provides an app called “Safe UT”, which provides free, confidential, anonymous tipping and reporting, and a crisis counselor 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This crisis tip line provides real-time crisis intervention for students, parents/guardians, and educators through calling or live chat from your smartphone or computer device. If an anonymous tip is reported to Safe UT, it is relayed to the school building administrator and school resource officer to follow up on and investigate. If students are being bullied or if they need access to crisis counselors, the Safe UT app is a very effective resource. As a district, we have increased access to the Safe UT app by adding a “Report Bullying” button in the top right-hand corner of the district web page https://kanek12.org/. You can also access the Safe UT app at the following link: https://safeut.org/. We strongly encourage students, parents/guardians, and the community to use the Safe UT app as needed. It can save lives.
